Over thirty years prior the group may of Columbia Pictures slid on Austin with one of that studio's blue-strip, A-group moviemaking armed forces: Blythe Danner, Anthony Perkins, Beau Bridges, a hot chief named Sidney Lumet, an ingenue named Susan Sarandon, and a similar maker who had effectively made unassuming community Texas a bankable ware with the transformation of Larry McMurtry's The Last Picture Show.
