One of the most critical aspects of carnation care is proper watering. These plants prefer evenly moist soil but can't tolerate standing water. Water your carnations when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch, but avoid overwatering. Soggy soil can lead to root rot and other problems. Always water at the base of the plant to keep the foliage dry and prevent fungal diseases. Place them near a south or west-facing window where they can receive plenty of sunlight without being exposed to direct rays, especially during the hottest parts of the day. If you're growing carnations indoors, consider supplementing natural light with a grow light to ensure they get enough brightness.
